Bible Quizzing is a
ministry of First Apostolic Church. The primary objective is to teach the
Word of God as we are commanded in the scriptures (Deut. 6:1-7, Prov. 22:6).
This is accomplished through training that develops the vast potential of
their young minds. Through teaching of memorization techniques, drills, and
games youth demonstrate an incredible ability to store and recall Bible
scriptures. Each year new material is selected for learning and
memorization. The ability to retain and recall the scriptures is then put to
the test in what is referred to as Bible Quizzing.
This intense and exciting
competition creates an environment where youth are able to apply what they
have learned in a tangible way. A child’s natural enjoyment of games serves
as a means to develop their skill in the scriptures. They learn the
importance of setting goals and gaining a sense of accomplishment. Through
their efforts they gain motivation to pursue excellence.
The sharp memory and quick
recall demonstrated is awesome. In addition to the anointing of God's Word
upon these young people as they devote themselves to diligent study, they
develop team-work and leadership skills and gain confidence and
self-esteem.
Bible Quizzing provides a
multitude of benefits on infinite levels. It incorporates the relationship
between parents and youth that is envisioned in Deut. 6. Every parent who
has a desire to see their children develop their own relationship with Jesus
Christ understands not only the necessity of knowing His Word, but living it
on a daily basis. Bible Quizzing creates a daily interaction in the
scriptures for parents and children. Within these times of daily devotion
God’s Spirit is made manifest in opportunities for children to ask questions
about the verses they are learning along with opportunities for parents to
teach and train from the very same verses the way that they desire for their
children to go.
First Apostolic Church
has a rich tradition in Bible Quizzing and has a reputation of excellence
that is regarded and respected throughout the Ohio District and North
America. From its early beginnings in the 1960’s this ministry has been
developing the scriptural capabilities of children. The vast majority of
these children have gone on to become outstanding students, parents, and
leaders in our church organization.
