The
coaches of First Apostolic’s Jr. Bible Quizzing program are Gary and Rachel
Kufel. They have been involved with this vital children’s ministry since
2003. Bro. Kufel recently received the 2008 Ohio District Coach of the Year
award.
Jr. Bible
Quizzing is separated into two divisions. The Experienced Division is for
children up to the age of 12. The Beginners Division is for children up to
the age of 8. Besides age, the primary difference between the two divisions
is the amount of verses required and the complexity of questions.
TEAMS
Our 2008
team has continued the churches' rich tradition
and reputation by their accomplishments in this past season. Naomi
Kufel and
Greg Patrisso (Toledo 1) competed in the Experienced Division and finished
the
season as Ohio District Champions and the Southeastern Extravaganza
Champions. They earned 1st place trophies at District Tournaments
in Lancaster, OH, and Franklin, IN, a 2nd place trophy at Mt.
Vernon, OH, and a 3rd place trophy at Pataskala, OH. Naomi and
Greg were named to 8 All-Tournament teams and both finished as Highest
Scoring Individuals on several occasions. Naomi and Greg finished with the 2nd
and 4th highest scoring averages in Ohio. They concluded their
season by qualifying for the National Tournament and finished 17th.
Jeffrey
Wonder and Cody Nagley (Toledo 2) also competed in the Experienced Division.
They earned several team awards with a 4th place trophy at the
Southeastern Extravaganza, 1st place in Mt. Vernon, OH, and 2nd
place in Lancaster, OH. Jeffrey was named to 5 All-Tournament teams and was
the Highest Scoring Individual at Mt. Vernon, OH. Jeffrey and Cody finished
with the 5th and 12th highest scoring averages in
Ohio.
Jared Kufel and Rachael
Morrin were first year quizzers that competed in the Beginners Division.
They earned a 3rd place trophy at the Southeastern Extravaganza,
2nd place in Dublin, OH, and 3rd place at the Ohio
District Championship. Jared and Rachael qualified for the National
Tournament and also finished 17th. Jared was named to 6
All-Tournament teams and was the Highest Scoring Individual at 4 of those
tournaments. He finished with the highest scoring average in Ohio and was
named the 2008 Ohio JBQ Beginners Division Quizzer of the Year.
