2007 Senior Bible Quiz Team
The
Senior Bible Quiz team started the season with great anticipation and
enthusiasm. Toledo has both Experienced and Intermediate Division teams.
The
Experienced Division Team is captained by returning veteran and 2006
National Champion team member, Marissa Patrisso. She teams with Jill
Rickard and Abi Heilman. At the Ohio District Kickoff tournament, Toledo
won 2nd place and was 1st at the February Cincinnati
Invitational.
The
Intermediate Team is captained by another returning veteran, Sarah Kufel.
Sarah teams with another young veteran, Samantha Tracy and a graduate from
the Junior Bible Quiz team, Alexis Nagley. This team was 1st at
the Ohio Kickoff tournament and won 2nd place at the Cincinnati
Invitational.
The season is off to a
successful start as these young warriors of the Word continually are driven
to reach for excellence. Please pray for and support them as they study
GOD’s Word.
2006
North American Bible Quiz Tournament
Kansas City, KS. July 30 – Aug. 2, 2006
The Senior Bible Quiz
team participated in the 2006 NABQT July 30 – Aug. 2 in the Sheraton Hotel
and Convention Center in Kansas City, KS. 95 teams in all were there to
compete, 53 in the Experienced Division and 42 in the Intermediate
Division. We participated in the Experienced Division.
We launched into the 1st
Round with a matrix draw of #29. Our quizzes and scores were as follows:
On Sunday the 30th
we played PA 1 winning 280 to 30. Then VA 1 winning 290 to 15.
On Monday morning, up
stepped TX 2. We sent them to round 2 with their first loss by winning 200
to 60. After lunch, we played LA 1 winning 305 to -5. Next fell GA 1 to
the OH1 team 110 to 65. This put us in the final game of the 1st
round facing Western 2 (Manteca, CA). We won the game 165 to 160 after
locking the quiz on question 17 with a score of 165 – 70 and leaving 90
points on the table.
Now we wait for the
winning team to come out of Round 2!! Two days later on August 2 just that
happened. The team we were to meet in the finals was again Western 2. Ohio
1 would need one win for the National Championship and Western 2 would need
to beat Ohio 1 twice to be the champions.
After a
beautiful Prayer and Share service as all of the final year quizzers spoke
including Lindsey, we sat down at the board for the final game. The quiz
started out very similar to the first. Marissa set a good pace bringing us
out of the 10 point questions ahead of Western. As we got into the 20 point
value questions, Captain Lindsey took command locking the game again on
question 17 at a score of 165 to 70 leaving 95 points for Western
to clean up.
Every member of the team
scored at this tournament. We even had 2 Bronze quizzes for balance scoring
and the girls were awarded medals.
Captain Lindsey Patrisso
was the Highest Scoring individual with a whopping 130 points per game
average. She also was named the 3rd Runner-Up for Quizzer of the
Year.
This team only lost one
quiz all year.
We are
the undefeated National Champions!!
